0:00I'm curious. You started to compound on all the channels, right? Twitter, LinkedIn, everything. How are you compounding? Are you like you're a numbers guy, too? Like you're tracking the month-over-month growth? Like how are you looking on those? >> I see the compounding as a consequence of what we're doing rather than the goal. Um What do you mean by that? Yeah. So, like we're human and we love having things that we can measure and the more ways you measure the more we can win. So, I can appreciate that. But like we're big on if we have a piece of content that we're like, "This is going to really help someone." And even if it's not super wide and we know it's not going to get it's not going to perform we'll we'll we'll push it, for sure. And so, it's I think it's really been all about the too good to fail. It's like as long as we we make sure that what we are putting out is high quality and that I am proud to have it out there um it's kind of like the rest will take care of itself. Like we will do our jobs. We will do a good job. We will do all of the basics and we will do it every time and if we do that on a long enough time horizon we will get the result we want.
0:57>> Yeah. Makes sense. And as you're talking I was just for whatever reason I just started thinking about your Twitter workflow, which I think is probably the most interesting to you because you're you're writing, right? >> I do. Yeah. The only one that I'm directly posting. Yeah. You take a poop while you're doing it or like what do you what No, actually um Where do these thoughts come from? So, the two two places. One is I wake up with them. Yeah. So, I usually wake up with like three or four tweets in my head and I won't usually even get out of bed until I put them in. That is nuts.
1:24And so, yeah. So, like you'll see all like a lot of my tweets are front-loaded for the day cuz that's usually >> super refined. >> Yeah. I think Twitter low-key is the single greatest tool for learning how to write. >> Yeah. Because it forces you to have word concision and you get immediate feedback. >> Mhm. And so, you get like >> Don't the immediate hits feel so good? >> there's just the feedback on the language. You know what I mean? You get to learn really quickly and it's based on your words. So, I think there like there two things that have improved my writing more than anything. Hemingway, the app >> Mhm.
1:52>> [clears throat] >> and Twitter. Like the two things that have improved my writing the most. >> You use Hemingway to tweet? No, no, no. but like when I wrote like when I write the book >> Yeah. that has helped me and and Twitter. Got it. Um but you said so the so from a and the the second place that I do it is when things come up naturally during the day. And so I'll say something on a meeting and and like literally like the team will be like that's a tweet and then I'll just I'll just fire it off. Like but there's there's no um there's no cadence, there's no ghost writers, there's no like you'll also see two days in a row where I won't tweet at all. So like it's just whatever. And some days I'll tweet like 11 times. Like it's just if I'm in the zone.
2:27>> Um I I think there's a lot of wisdom there. I I just I think there's a lot of beauty in the written word and if you can articulate yourself that way then it's like you're next level. Well dude, I had a guy um a really a really successful uh tech entrepreneur. So he had had two unicorn exits. So like really successful. Hit me up on Twitter and we hopped on a Zoom call and he was like, "Dude, so what's your Twitter strategy? Are you like in one of these engagement groups?" And I was like, "No." And he's like, "Oh dude, I won't tell anybody. Like just like what's the [laughter] like what's the what's the playbook?" And I was like, I tweet [ __ ] as I think of it. Yeah.
2:58>> [laughter] >> Yeah. And he just like he asked like three or four times like he just wouldn't believe it. I'm like, >> Yeah. "That's what it is." And so and you'll notice because the tweets are usually like themed cuz it's just like top of mind. So if I'm feeling cuz usually I'm tweeting to myself and that's what people don't get. Like my tweets are me trying to bang myself in the head and be like, "Dude, like be [ __ ] patient." Or like relax. Like you know, whatever it is or like you don't need to care about this person's opinion. And so like they're so violent because I'm in the moment of discomfort and I write that to myself to get over the moment and move on with my day. Real quick, if you are a business owner and you are not growing as fast as you'd like, I'd like to give you a free gift. So my team and I put together the $100 million scaling road map, which is basically 200 hours of us looking over all the portfolio companies we've had and what stages of growth they went through and more importantly where they got stuck and how they got past it. And so we broke it into these 10 stages and we made this little kind of quiz thing where if you put in your business information, it'll tell you where you're at and the most important part for you, what to do for each of functions of the business across product, marketing, sales, customer success, recruiting, IT, human resources, and finance. And so, no matter what you're struggling with, someone else has already struggled with it and solved it. And so, I'd like to give you this thing absolutely free. You go to acquisition.com/roadmap, plug in your business information, and if you want us to actually help you deconstruct the business and you're trying to scale, we'd love to help you out on the Thank you page you just book a call with my team and we will look at the business, see if we can help, and if we can, we'll invite you out to Vegas and we'll do this in person live.
