0:00If you have a thousand bucks, here's how to invest in your 20s [music] to build real wealth. So, step one, identify your baseline market value. Write down your currently hourly wage, your current annual income, the skills you can monetize right now. So, the formula is this: hourly rate times 2,000 working hours per year equals your current income ceiling. It's the goal is to break through that ceiling within the next 12 months. Step two, choose a skill. Choose one of your skills that follow these rules. Step three, now buy education. So, invest your thousand dollars into the thing that you researched to be the fastest skill to upgrade that's available. So, buy books, buy courses, there's courses online for free, mentor, I'm a big fan of one-on-one tutoring, huge. Your goal is to apply this new skill set to two to three extra income [music] and have a new hourly rate within 30 to 90 days.
0:40And to be clear, everyone's got an hourly rate, they just don't think about it. Step four, live like you're broke and then repeat the cycle. Repeat the process over and over and over again. And so, the formula is income minus survival cost equals your education budget. This is really big. That extra cash, that doesn't go into passive investing, that goes into like, "Okay, I just doubled my income, how do I double it again?" And so, over time, your budget will get bigger and bigger as your new skills increase and you'll be able to buy higher levels and more impressive skill sets. And so, be the number one student everywhere you pay to be. That's one of my biggest things I would encourage you to do. Become obsessed with getting better at the skill. And I guarantee you, if you stick to this for four years, you will make more than what the average college degree could get you [music] in that same time.
