If I Wanted an Audience, I'd Do What the Beatles Did

0:00I make music, and I want to be cool and mysterious as that's the brand. Um should I just do that or volume? I think the Beatles The Beatles played like every night for like 5 years at like tiny dingy bars to get good.

0:30Um I think Jerry Seinfeld did the same thing for stand-up comedy. I think that both there are elements of truth to both things that you said, but I think you're conflating sequence. Which is like once you have a gigantic audience of people who love you, you can decrease the volume and then increase the quality and then drop. You can post and ghost, right? You can be Drake or whatever. Um but in almost every one of those circumstances, there's a long period where you are where no one knows you exist, where you do a shitload of volume cuz you're not that good. And so, the my TLDR here is that you probably need to do a shitload of volume so you can be significantly better than you are. And the best news is that uh while you do that volume, you're probably not that good, and so no one's going to see you anyways, and so uh you will still appear as though you emerged out of nowhere because every person who discovers you, that's the first time that they ever see you. But the only way that they discover is you if they actually see you, which means you got to do more.
