0:00I mean, I had many jobs before I decided to enter entrepreneurship. I think the key is This has been said before, but you need to make sure that you're either earning or you're learning. And so, if you have If you have the goal to make $100,000 a year, there's plenty of careers that will that will help you do that. 200, 250, 500, like you're for sure can make that at at a company. Um even a million dollars a year. Uh if you're like, I want to make $20 million a year, there's a very small amount of companies that will do it and it'll take a long time to get there, probably. Um that being said, uh I think it just Yeah, it comes It's like there is no correct answer to a number of eternal questions. How much risk am I am I willing to take? No one can answer that for you. That's a you question.
0:36>> even know how you answer that for yourself, though. Do you have any idea? I think you just start risking things and one day if you If you haven't slept in a week, maybe it's too much risk, or maybe you're just getting used to it. I don't know. I think I think you have to reverse engineer from the goal, right? If you want to Like there are paths that you can guarantee success, and if you can guarantee success, then why would you risk anything, right? If you want to make $1 million, if you like there's a number of very known things that you can do, and if you just do those things, the likelihood of it occurs is super high.
1:02If you're like Like I said, you want to make $100 million, it's riskier. You'll probably have to take on more personal risk in order to do something like that. So, I think it it it should vary based on these things. The worst-case scenario is where you have a small goal and take massive risk. >> Yeah. Right. Which happens a lot. >> Yeah, see see also crypto bros who put their entire small-to-medium life savings into a shitcoin to get an upside of >> Yeah. twice of what they invested. >> But to loop it back to what you were originally saying with the job is that like jobs are some of the best ways that you can learn skills. And so, if you can learn skills and work under somebody that you admire, which I think is probably two that the key, and from the person you admire you learn other skills, right? Um if if you have those two things, then learn as much as you possibly can, um because sometimes not only like you might learn at a more accelerated rate in that setting and get paid for it. In other settings, you would have to pay your own money or pay your own time in order to learn maybe the same skills, maybe not. But that that kind of I I use that Like I still think like we we do so much training at acquisition.com and so many people come to work here because they're like, I want to grow. And we create huge opportunities for people to grow. And I mean, we have very well-compensated people who work at acquisition.com. So, um yeah, I I wholeheartedly toss out the idea of job or no job. It's just what are my daily activities? What how am I being remunerated, right? How am I getting paid for the stuff I do? And in between those two things, how many skills am I am I learning? And that could be maximized working on your own or on a job. Like Real quick, if you're a business owner and you are not growing as fast as you'd like, I'd like to give you a free gift. So, my team and I put together the $100 scaling road map, which is basically 200 hours of us looking over all the portfolio companies we've had and what stages of growth they went through and more importantly, where they got stuck and how they got past it.
2:42And so we broke it in these 10 stages and we made this little kind of quiz thing where if you put in your business information, it'll tell you where you're at and the most important part for you, what to do for each of functions of the business across product, marketing, sales, customer success, recruiting, IT, human resources, and finance. And so, no matter what you're struggling with, someone else has already struggled with it and solved it. And so I'd like to give you this thing absolutely free. You can go to acquisition.com/roadmap, plug in your business information, and if you want us to actually help you deconstruct the business and you're trying to scale, we'd love to help you out. On the thank you page, you can just book a call with my team and we will look at the business, see if we can help, and if we can, we'll invite you out to Vegas and we'll do this in person live.
