It takes everyone a different amount of time to realize that your friends and family, you know, their realistic advice was just their own fear masquerading as reality. You don't need to make the same tradeoffs that they decided were worth it. Different goals, different paths. Never expect someone who doesn't understand your goals to understand why you work so hard to achieve them. You never did it for them, you do it for you.
