0:00Many of you are afraid to do what you know you should do to grow the business. Fundamentally, you have to better allocate the resources you have to get returns. And that means your time and your money primarily. And the entrepreneurs that are better rewarded are the ones that allocate the most resources towards the fewest things that get the highest returns. And I will say that again, they allocate the most resources to the fewest things. They get the highest returns. And so right now, you probably have a big list of stuff that you're going to on the train home or the I don't know who took a train here, but yeah, on the plane home or the car ride home, you're going to open up your your your laptop or your yellow pad and you're going to have your pages and pages of notes. Everyone have at least one page of notes here? Yes. Okay.
0:49You're going to have multiple pages of notes and you're going to open look at this blank page and say like, "What the hell am I going to do now? what am I actually going to do? And the whole goal that I would like that I would be a success for me is if what is on that sticky pad is the right three things because the goal here is not that you do 100 of tactics. It's not because you're not going to be able to. And you trying to do 100 tactics is going to get you into trouble. The whole point so like we do I do days uh with you know a handful of companies that I that we you know think are interesting that we could potentially invest in the future etc.
1:22And when I work with those companies for, you know, a day plus, the whole point is not for somebody to leave with a to-do list. The point is for them to have one thing that is very clear. And so I made a post um I don't know if this was public or not. Um about I know what every goal I had since I got into business was per year. And every goal I every year I usually had one goal. Last year it was to launch a book and do 100 million bucks.
1:49The year before that it was to launch the advisory practice. Like if you just have like if you just do one thing right, everything else goes away. But the the alpha, the leverage that you get is in opportunity selection. It's in making sure that the fewest things are the things that get the highest returns. And the vast majority of the time, if you're spending all your time working every day and the business is not growing, you're picking the wrong [ __ ] And like this like that's the thing that is the thing that is strategy at its most core is prioritization of resources. And so that is my ask for everyone here is that if you have you have this big list make sure that you have the one two or three and if it were up to me the one thing that you're actually going to do and then you spend all your resources to make sure that [ __ ] thing comes true.
2:39And so to be clear, that does not mean, oh, I have one thing. Um, that's it. It's more, okay, how can I do 20 things to make sure there's no [ __ ] way this doesn't happen. And so, it's reinforcing the bridge from every angle. I'm going to get help. I'm going to call friends. I'm going to I'm going to hire help. I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that one thing is true. So, that is my ask for you guys. Hope you enjoyed this. Give it up for Ed. Um, we'll wrap it up. Real quick, I'm going to show you the exact 10-stage road map from zero to 100 million plus that less than 1% of companies finish I've now done multiple times. And so I can say with a lot of confidence that these are the stages as headcount increases that you need to get through. And I broke each of these down by eight different functions of the business, what the constraint feels like, like what are the symptoms of it when you're going through it, and then what steps we actually took to graduate.
3:27And we've done this across software, physical products, uh service businesses, brickandmortar, all of this. and it works and it's my gift to you. It's absolutely free and so the link's in the description, but you just go acquisition.comroadmap. Just enter your info and it'll spit it right back to you.
