Plans Are Bullsh*t

0:00I'll give you a quote from one of my executive body guards. [music] So he's had a bunch of people die next to him when he was in combat and all that kind of stuff and I was like, "What's the one biggest thing that changed about your worldview from having all these people who were so close to you just die tomorrow, like overnight? You see them and the next day they're blown up." He like laughed for a second and was like, >> [music] >> "Plans are bullshit." Guys like, "Yeah, man, I'm I'm going to be out, you know, in 2 weeks after my 4 years and then we're going to I'm going to build this lake house with my family, dead the next [music] day. Doesn't matter." That was an obsession of mine for a long time. I kept making all these super complex plans with all these contingencies and [music] then the board would change.

0:32The players would move. The resources I had would change. And so I just stopped. I was like, [music] "This is just like this process that I do to like hug myself, but like it doesn't actually do anything. It just wastes my mental resources." And so what I want to accomplish, really clear. How I get there, super vague and irrelevant.
