0:00Hi Alex. I'm Dorsey Pruder. Um I end family estrangement and alienation from both sides of the equation. So, I work with parents who've been alienated reunite them with their children, and I work with adult children who are estranged from their parents. >> Is this adoption stuff or is this just like >> High conflict divorce and then >> Oh, so it's conflict like they chose to be estranged. >> Yes. >> Sort of. Okay, got it.
0:26>> Yes, yes. They're manipulated when they're young they're manipulated by one parent. >> Voluntary on some side. Okay. >> So, um I have two uh avenues. Obviously, parents and then adult kids. So, I switched up my social media about 9 months ago. >> What's revenue? >> Oh, I'm sorry. Gross revenue um with the two sides about 1.6. >> Okay. >> I'd like to be at 10. Um >> And what is both sides? >> Um I've Conscious Co-Parenting Institute, which is where I've been in business for 20 years
0:55>> Uh-huh. >> working with alienated parents reuniting with their children. >> Okay, stopping about that. All right, what's this one? >> Yes, and this one is adult kids. >> Stopping about kids. >> Pardon me? >> Stopping about kids. >> Right. >> Okay, got it. >> So, they're estranged and uh they often times are alienated don't don't identify as that, but I switched all my marketing about 9 months ago. >> Victims really do. Sorry, keep going. >> Yes. >> Um yeah. >> Um and uh yeah, and I started a magic mushroom church.
1:25Um >> [laughter] >> Rock and roll. Let's go. >> Okay. >> So, I've started doing the deeper healing work by doing the mushroom church and um so, I'm stuck because I'm fragmented obviously trying to serve these two audiences and I switched my marketing cuz I really want to work with the adult kids >> Okay. >> and started working with them and started hosting retreats and both locally and and also like in Costa Rica.
1:53So, um yeah, I'm stuck at sales. So, we started our marketing, we started shifting our marketing, starting to grow on social media, um, getting millions of views, went from a couple thousand followers on Instagram to like 23 in a couple months, and um, you know, we were just >> switch to the kids? >> I'm an adult child of this family dynamic, so I started working with the parents. I'm tired of working with just the parents, and and also, um, because estrangement is like out of control, and nobody's serving them. They're stuck. So, um,
2:29>> serving the alienated parents? >> Me. >> So, I mean, you kind of have like on both sides, neither is being really served, right? >> Right. >> Um, I'll I'll tell you why I asked. >> Yeah. >> In general, the older the population, the more money they have. This is me just being purely from a like a a money perspective. We can go through like impact and and all that stuff later, but, um, you got tired of serving this avatar, and so you created another business to serve a different avatar cuz you got tired of serving these people. >> Correct.
2:55>> Okay. Um, I mean, it sounds like you made the business serve your personal needs rather than your customers. Um, hm, thing about >> I'm a parent, too. I mean, I'm I actually live both sides, and I'm really the only person in the space that serves both sides of the situation. >> your children? >> Pardon me? >> have you alienated your children? >> alienation from taking hold of my children. >> [laughter] >> Okay. So, so what So, what do you want to happen? You want to go to 10? >> Yes. >> Okay. Are you willing to take a step back to take a step forward?
3:23>> Yes. >> Okay. Well, then you just got to pick which kid you want. >> Okay. >> I just think it's the The reality is that you're too resource constrained. So, like a lot of times us entrepreneurs like we'll see these massive businesses and say like, well, these guys have four lines of revenue. It's like, yeah, but they didn't get there with four, they got there with one, and then they were able to have the massive resources to buy or, you know, acquire phenomenal talent that could actually could be self-starting. They could put 10 million in the bank and start something new. Like acquisition that comes with a lot of different revenue streams. It's like, but we still have to focus on one vertical tree, and then you can branch out. But people branch out way too early and it stumps it it stifles the tree. So, you only have so much you to go around, to so much magic, right? Um I was thinking magic mushrooms, anyways.
4:04>> I got it. I was picking up what you were putting >> Trying to trying to bring it back. Trying to a little little callback. Uh >> [laughter] >> So, uh which kid you going to pick? >> I want to pick the kids. >> Okay. Well, uh is that one growing faster than the other one? >> If I put on my focus to it, it will. >> Okay. Well, I mean, it sounds like you're mission driven. >> Actually, it is on my social. >> Yes. >> So, I picked that avenue about 9 months ago and have only been marketing to them.
4:30>> Okay. But it's making money, yes? >> It is making money. >> Okay. So, I mean, I just think it's like you just have to Are you willing to sacrifice lifestyle for 6 to 12 months in order to do this? >> Yes. >> All right. As long as you're willing to do it, then that's what I would do. It's just a trade. >> Okay. >> Otherwise, if you pursue both, neither will grow. >> Mhm. >> And you'll always feel stressed. So, I wouldn't feel like you're trading nothing for something, or sorry, something for nothing. You're trading a lot of stress right now and in some ways I don't want to say guaranteed cuz I always want everyone to win, but like a a low likelihood of of achieving your goal to a significantly higher chance of achieving your goal and serving the avatar you want. I feel like it's not a bad trade.
5:12>> Got it. >> Feel good? Doesn't feel that good. Feels like a like an alienated parent and their child, you know what >> Yes, feels like that. [laughter] Yes. >> At least is it Is it clear? >> It is clear. I mean, there's the other piece I was sued at the other company and so I'm like how I have a debt that I still have to pay off over there for the lawyer. I won. So, I didn't lose, but I still have to pay the I still lost cuz I have to pay the lawyer. So, I feel still I feel stuck because I still >> parents. These alienated parents.
5:39>> [ __ ] parents. >> I know, right? >> The parents are annoying, yes. >> Yeah. Well, you got to do I mean, fundamentally, if you believe the other business is going to be more successful long term, it'll be easier to bet on. >> Yeah, okay. >> And you'll be I'm sure you have a payment plan negotiated and you can spread it out. >> Thank you. >> You're welcome. If you're a business owner and you are not growing as fast as you'd like, I'd like to give you a free gift. So my team and I put together the $100 million scaling roadmap, which is basically 200 hours of us looking over all the portfolio companies we've had and what stages of growth they went through and more importantly, where they got stuck and how they got past it. And so we broke it in these 10 stages and we made this little kind of quiz thing where if you put in your business information, it'll tell you where you're at and the most important part for you, what to do for each of functions of the business across product, marketing, sales, customer success, recruiting, IT, human resources and finance. And so no matter what you're struggling with, someone else has already struggled with it and solved it. And so I'd like to give you this thing absolutely free. You can go to acquisition.com/roadmap, plug in your business information and if you want us to actually help you deconstruct the business and you're trying to scale, we'd love to help you out. On the thank you page you can book a call with my team and we will look at the business, see if we can help and if we can, we'll invite you out to Vegas and we'll do this in person live.
