"Is AI Going to Make My Job Obsolete?"

0:00Yes, sir. >> So, I'm in the professional advice space. I'm a lawyer. I do estate planning, financial planning, tax planning. Uh but this could apply to professional advice generally. Uh what are the the things you would focus on to protect against or remote against AI automation, those sort of things interrupting the space? >> Yeah, really good question. Um I I don't think it's actually a threat. And let me explain. So, you're like, I thought Alex was all about AI, which I am.

0:28Um basically, I think it's not going to matter until it doesn't matter. So, it's going to be humans plus technology, which has not changed. It's humans plus internet, humans plus computers, humans plus AI. And that's what it is now. The people who are better using AI will get an advantage cuz they have technology that other people don't. Um until the UX with AI can be truly seamless, where you can just talk and it can solve problems to a degree that you know, who's an unknowing person, what the right answer is. Cuz the problem with like, oh, well, AI can code. The only guys who talk about that are coders.

1:01And so, they have to have the perspective from which to make the judgment on how good is this code that it spit out. And if I'm a writer, I can tell you that the stuff that AI writes is better than most people, but it's not better than the best writers. Now, they say, okay, well, in the future it will be better than the best writers. But who's going to be able to have the context to make that judgment, right? And so, um I've come, at least for me in terms of decreasing my anxiety around AI in general, it's we will continue to embracing technology, and I use this across the portfolio cuz some of our companies have the same concerns. We will continue to embrace technology until AI beats humans at everything, in which case it won't matter.

1:37Cuz everybody loses. So, or everybody wins, depending on how you want to see it. But that's that's kind of how I I see that overall, which means that given how AI is moving, what will that change about my behavior? Nothing. And so, that's why I don't spend a huge amount of time thinking about how AI is disrupting things, and just spend a lot of time of like, how do I I it, just like any other technology, and then someday in the future if it replaces me, then we're all [ __ ] anyways.
