0:00Uh, Alex, nice to meet you. I'm Jake. Firstly, sincere thank you for all the training, the support, everything is amazing. Um, so I feel that the constraint in our business at the moment is how we acquire customers. Uh, we have a JV model. So, we help coaches, consultants grow and monetize their audience on Instagram. And we work with partners, so they promote our webinar and then for two or three days, four days on their calendar, we do reset.

0:26So, we're maxed out at sort of 50, 60 partners that we can possibly promote per year. Um, >> Why? >> Why? Because of the the size of our database is 10,000. So, if we promote them, let's say three days, four days promoting a partner, our calendar fills up. So, we can't therefore promote any further. >> You have 50 or 60 partners who promote your webinar. >> Yeah. >> And then you sell their audience. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> And then you're saying because you have to cross-promote, you have to promote

0:54>> Yeah, they promote us, so we promote them. That's it's like a reset. >> Got it. Hm. Hm. >> So, we've if I can follow up, so we we've got to >> You could segment your list. >> Yeah. >> So, rather than saying I'm going to cuz like if you just said I'm going to send a third of like how long have you been doing this? >> Uh, four years. >> Okay. And you had the same offer four years ago, right? >> Yeah, yeah.

1:21>> Okay. And the size of your list four years ago, what was it compared to now? >> Um, I mean, it's 5,000. >> And what is it now? >> I mean, it's >> How is the list so small if you're doing 50 JVs? That sounds crazy. >> Well, we have we haven't been. Like we we scaled to 50 last year. The year before it was >> Even so, I mean, 50 JV partners to get 10,000 people on a list >> I think we're I think we're burning through the the list because as soon as they come through our kind of initial sequence, then we're promoting somebody else immediately to send a reset, yeah.

1:48>> Yeah. >> So, I guess my question is I is the model flawed? Um, cuz I'm thinking like in my mind I always hear you saying like more, better, than you. But I'm thinking I don't think we can do any more. >> Yeah. So, it kind of makes me feel like Well, you could if you slice the list up but still the 10,000 seems like an odd point to me. Like something doesn't make sense there. Like if I I mean I had I mean, shoot. Like the top affiliate that we had who promoted my book launch sent 10,000 opt-ins. There's one guy.

2:13>> Yeah. But if I if if we're recip and our list is 10,000, if we work with a partner who's got 20,000 or 30,000 or even 50,000, they're generally sending two, three times as many leads as we are to them. So, we're not as an attractive partner. >> Right. That's what I'm I'm saying so weird is that you have 50 or 60 people sending you leads and you only have 10,000. That's the part that doesn't make any sense to me. But whatever. Okay. Um all right. >> [sighs and gasps]

2:39>> I think it's the whole recipro- like the whole reciprocal thing that's the issue. Like there's tons of people build affiliates. They just don't say I'm going to promote you. I just compensate you with money in exchange for product money. >> Okay. >> Like every affiliate model that exists on the planet that is scaled is just you promote me, you get paid. >> Yeah. So, you you would build that as opposed to going to a new channel like Instagram for example. >> Yeah, I mean you already know how to do that. I would just I would probably play with the this is the price compensation one in terms of those four. Is I would just play with the deal structure. And so, you might have to I mean you'll have to go with a couple different versions but I like fundamentally people will promote other people's stuff as long as it And here's the big thing is it has to it has to be accretive to their audience. It has to be value added. And so, if you can find a way, so hopefully like you guys will promote the book launch next year.

3:25Um >> [laughter] >> That's just wow. All right. Then don't promote the book launch. Everyone except for her. >> [laughter] >> Uh No, but like ideally the whole point is like, "Hey, I'm going to give something amazing to your audience which is like I'll do a Q&A for your audience if you're one of the top however many." And so, then that gives that audience a reason to or that promoter a reason to promote it and it gives the audience a reason why they would click through their link. It's like I would like this thing that doesn't benefit the promoter, but benefits me as the end user. And so, that doesn't detract or take goodwill from the list. Right? Like, instead of thinking like, we're we're you know, reciprocity or whatever, think like, what would I need to do in order to make sure that their list was better off from promoting my thing?

4:10And then do that. >> Okay. >> Does that make sense? >> Yeah, it does. >> So, a friend of mine has a big a big big JV business, and what he does is he gives away a free service that he provides. So, by the way, this is great for you. Um, it's actually tax and accounting stuff. And so, he gives away some sort of tax accounting, whatever, on the front end that they can add to every single sale that they have. So, they add it to their stack. They add his service to their stack. So, they get a premium for the service that he provides. And so, by doing that, they just get all margin. They have to do anything. And he gets free leads.

4:39Because they come to him, he delivers the service that he promises, which adds value to that person's audience, and then he upsells them additional services. And that's the trade. And so, you just need to find something that gives value, truly, [clears throat] rather than take. >> Yeah, yeah. >> Make it a give to both them and their audience, and you'll have an endless amount of leads that you can do affiliations with. >> Awesome. Thank you. >> That help? >> Yeah. >> Okay, cool. If you are a business owner and you are not growing as fast as you like, I'd like to give you a free gift.

5:04So, my team and I put together the $100 million scaling roadmap, which is basically 200 hours of us looking over all the portfolio companies we've had and what stages of growth they went through, and more importantly, where they got stuck and how they got past it. And so, we broke it in these 10 stages, and we made this little kind of quiz thing where if you put in your business information, it'll tell you where you're at, and the most important part for you, what to do for each of functions of the business across product, marketing, sales, customer success, recruiting, IT, human resources, and finance. And so, no matter what you're struggling with, someone else has already struggled with it and solved it. And so, I'd like to give you this thing absolutely free. You can go to acquisition.com/roadmap, plug in your business information, and if you want us to actually help you deconstruct the business and you're trying to scale, we'd love to help you out. On the thank you page and book a call with my team and we will look at your business, see if we can help and if we can, we'll invite you out to Vegas and we'll do this in person live.
