0:00What do you think about work-life balance? A lot of people are advocates for this. It doesn't seem like maybe you're in that camp. I think depends on seasons and I also have no shoulds. You can do whatever you want. Um if you want to achieve more than the average person, then you will likely have to work more than the average person. It's like you cannot expect an exceptional outcome and then not expect to be an exception. Mhm. And so what's interesting about this is that like you know, if you want to make let's say a top 1% income in the United States, which is about $600,000 a year right now, then that means that in a room of 100 people, you have to be number one.
0:29And if you want to be, you know, top point, you know, 1%, then you're looking at a few million dollars a year of income. It's like, okay, in order to do that, you need to walk into a room of a thousand people and literally be better than all of them. And you want to get to, you know, 10 million or or dollars a year, it's like you need 11,000 people in the room. And so you're looking at, you know, a third of a stadium. You need to look at every single person there and be like, I have eaten all of them. It's like, so if you if that's the if that's what it looks like at those levels, it's like, do you think it makes sense that you would behave the same way they do?
0:58Do you think it would make sense that you would that you'd spend the time same way they do? And also, does it make sense that they would understand why you do what you do? What's been really interesting for me to observe is that when I had no money, everyone criticized me for working so hard. And then once I had money, people criticized me for working so hard. >> That's funny. That's That's really funny. >> What How ironic is that? What's going on there, you think?
1:23I I think that when people see people making trades that they are unwilling to make, the the you have two options. One is you say like, this person is is more motivated, they're better than I am. >> Yeah. Um or you criticize. And I think it's a much easier path to criticize. Real quick, if you are a business owner and you are not growing as fast as you'd like, I'd like to give you a free gift. So, my team and I put together the $100 scaling roadmap, which is basically 200 hours of us looking over all the portfolio companies we've had and what stages of growth they went through and more importantly, where they got stuck and how they got past it. And so we broke it into these 10 stages and we made this little kind of quiz thing where if you put in your business information, it'll tell you where you're at and the most important part for you, what to do for each of functions of the business across product, marketing, sales, customer success, recruiting, IT, human resources, and finance. And so no matter what you're struggling with, someone else has already struggled with it and solved it. And so I'd like to give you this thing absolutely free. You can go to acquisition.com/roadmap, plug in your business information, and if you want us to actually help you deconstruct the business and you're trying to scale, we'd love to help you out. On the thank you page, you can book a call with my team and we will look at your business, see if we can help, and if we can, we'll invite you out to Vegas and we'll do this in person live.
