How I Think About Goals

Was du mitnimmst

0:00So, do you think that getting wealthy is a good goal for everyone? I feel like that's a question that nobody seems to really be asking cuz it's assumed that everyone should want to get rich cuz it's America. I don't really know if that's true. I'm wondering what you think about that. Um I mean, I don't think I don't think anyone should anything. So, I wholly [laughter] reject shoulds in general. So, I mean, do what you want. If you have a goal of getting in shape, you want to get married, you want to make money, all of those have clear action steps that you can do to pursue them and everything that is not those steps is distracting you from them.

0:32I I wonder why Well, I think a lot of folks are like this guy, you know, he's always talks about wealth and generating wealth. Did you care about being wealthy or did you care more about building something? When you were younger? >> Oh, no, I wanted to make money. >> Yeah. Yeah. [laughter] Did you grow up >> joke about the the mission of uh Gym Launch was uh not be broke. That was the That was the mission of the company. [laughter] So, low bar. Yeah, yeah. Um and so, that's, you know, obviously we became not broke through that business and then, you know, continued to make money after that. Um but I think that I think you have to you have to kind of like put your your life mask on or your air mask on before you can think really big. Like it's very difficult or I have yet to meet somebody who is thinking about 10-year vision for their life when they can't pay rent.

1:15And so, it's like we have to we have to solve the immediate problems first. And so, that's where sometimes having the job can be, you know, really advantageous because I think I mean it's the 5 to 9 where everyone loses everything, not the 9 to 5, right? You're not working from 5 5:00 in the night a.m. You're not working from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. And those are 8 hours per day every single day, plus you got weekends. It's like you have more hours not at work than you have at work and your job isn't the thing that's preventing you from getting to where you want to go, assuming you don't have what you already want right now.

1:39>> Sure. Sure. Real quick, if you are a business owner and you are not growing as fast as you'd like, I'd like to give you a free gift. So, my team and I put together the $100 million scaling road map, which is basically 200 hours of us looking over all the portfolio companies we've had and what stages of growth they went through and more importantly, where they got stuck and how they got past it. And so, we broke it in these 10 stages and we made this little kind of quiz thing where if you put in your business information, it'll tell you where you're at and the most important part for you, what to do for each of functions of the business across product, marketing, sales, customer success, recruiting, IT, human resources and finance. And so, no matter what you're struggling with, someone else has already struggled with it and solved it. And so, I'd like to give you this thing absolutely free. You can go to acquisition.com/roadmap, plug in your business information and if you want us to actually help you deconstruct the business and you're trying to scale, we'd love to help you out. On the thank you page, you can book a call with my team and we will look at the business, see if we can help and if we can, we'll invite you out to Vegas and we'll do this in person live.
