Was du mitnimmst

0:00Alex, you always say that your capacity to work itself is trainable. Yes. How do you make sure you don't affect your health? For example, in book launch days, you were not sleeping much. Yeah, but I'm still alive, right? I mean, I'm sorry. >> [laughter] >> Like, bro, I want to win. I mean, like Like, you're not going to die. You'll be okay.

0:25Like, if you're working so hard that you're like not sleeping as much, fine. Now, I'm not saying you shouldn't sleep. You absolutely should sleep. But sometimes sometimes it's wartime, right? And I think um this term keeps coming up in my mind and maybe I'll write a book about it cuz I love the term so much, but like built for war, right? Like I remember like like during the launch, I just thought to myself, I was like I am built for this.

0:52And some people aren't and I think that's fine. Like Like, winning isn't for everyone. That's why only a few people can do it. And so like we have to be willing to make trade-offs. Like there are no solutions, there are only trade-offs. You trade one thing for another and then you decide whether it's worth it or not. And literally the entirety of life is making those trades. That's it. And some people trade short-term for, you know, short trade long-term for short-term. Some people trade getting high for being productive.

1:18Some people trade Netflix for getting forward in life. And those are just trades. Nothing wrong with it. It's only wrong if it's not getting what you want, right? And so like the health thing, yeah, be healthy. Long-term you get I mean, obviously your longevity in the game is going to be important, but I would struggle to say like show me somebody who's ultra successful who hasn't had periods or seasons where they're lopsided. And so my encouragement for you during these like seasons of lots of work is to think about work-life balance on a longer time horizon. And so meaning like you might have the decade of your 20s being a work season and the decade of your 30s being a semi-work season with more family. And then as you kind of progress on, those seasons will shift.

2:02But like if you're not where you want to be, you will have to do more stuff to get there. And until you have money, you will basically have to use work as your primary mode of getting ahead. And so you have to use violent, unreasonable, ruthless amounts of effort for extended periods of time and be able to delay gratification because you sure as hell aren't going to win fast. And so if you need that to keep going, good luck. But the vast majority of people have something that they're running towards or something they're running away from. And whatever it is that fuels you, use it. If you're business owner and you are not growing as fast as you'd like, I'd like to give you a free gift.

2:39So my team and I put together the $100 million scaling road map, which is basically 200 hours of us looking over all the portfolio companies we've had and what stages of growth they went through and more importantly where they got stuck and how they got past it. And so we broke it in these 10 stages and we made this little kind of quiz thing where if you put in your business information, it'll tell you where you're at and the most important part for you, what to do for each of the functions of the business across product, marketing, sales, customer success, recruiting, IT, human resources and finance. And so no matter what you're struggling with, someone else has already struggled with it and solved it. And so I'd like to give you this thing absolutely free. You can go to acquisition.com/roadmap, plug in your business information and if you want us to actually help you deconstruct the business and you're trying to scale, we'd love to help you out. On the thank you page, you can book a call with my team and we will look at the business, see if we can help and if we can, we'll invite you out to Vegas and we'll do this in person live.
